Hargreaves wants Edwards in the England squad: ‘There were a lot of internationals and he was the best on the pitch’ – Sporting

Former international of the formation of the three lions handed over to the Sporting winger

Owen Hargreaves is handed over to Marcus Edwards. The ex-England midfielder and ex-international assures the Sporting winger has shown enough level to make his debut for Gareth Southgate’s side. “There is always room for a player like that in the national team. How can he not be on the selectable list to play like that… There were a lot of internationals and he was the best on the pitch. What you need as a player is that, an opportunity. He can play in different positions,” assured the ex-Manchester United and Bayern Munich in comments to BT Sport. Marcus Edwards graduated from Tottenham and is a youth international for the Three Lions team, also being selectable by Cyprus, where his mother is from.

Peter Crouch, a former England striker, also praised the former V. Guimarães. “So much technique and individual talent, he just didn’t get the right finish, but it was an amazing moment,” he said of Edwards, recalling the winger’s slalom towards the goal.
