After the 9 p.m. soap opera, Big Brother Brasil is the program that brings in the most money for Globo. Indeed, each edition of the program has a range of sponsors who invest millions in the attraction in order to publicize their respective products.
In this way, Globo hopes to earn billions with the new edition of the BBB, which opens next Monday (16). However, the broadcaster has just suffered a strong setback and suffered a millionaire loss.
Loja Americanas, which suffered a shortfall of BRL 20 billion and saw its shares devalued by 90%, canceled its sponsorship for BBB 23 and it is not good for Globo, because the company was one of the main reality sponsors.
The amount Americanas would pass on to Globo/BBB 23 would be R$102 million for the duration of the reality show, one of the largest amounts on the program.
By a note, Americanas confirmed the cancellation of the sponsorship. “Americanas SA informs that it has canceled its participation in BBB 23. At this time, the company is focused on managing the business and providing the best experience to its customers, partners and suppliers. Rede Globo continues to be a relevant partner in Americanas SA’s marketing and communications strategy,” the company’s statement read.
Globo’s goal is to exceed the 1 billion reais mark in advertising revenue on BBB 23. In the last edition, the broadcaster approached this amount and had more than 30 partner brands in all reality.
